What brought you and your family to Community?
We were going to San Marcos Lutheran but when we moved from Vista to Escondido it got to be kind of far away. We started going to Community (in Escondido) when I was in 6th grade. Then we started going to the San Marcos campus once it started up because my dad wanted to help start the new church.
What school do you go to?
I go to Del Lago Academy and I am in 10th grade. I am a part of most of the nerd clubs there. Like the math club, the applied science and engineering club, the chemistry club. They are fun and different. My favorite class is science. This year I am in Biochemistry. We burned a Cheeto on last Friday to find out how many calories is in it.
Do you play any sports?
I played Soccer last year and we won CIF which was cool. We played a pretty hard team and we won 1-0. The hardest game was the semi-finals because we played the team that won last year. They were the number one team and we were number four. We were tied and then we went to overtime and we were still tied. We went to 12 penalty kicks and then finally won. I was the wing which is the person on the side running back and forth to help defense and offense. I hope to play soccer again this year.
Tell me about your family.
My brother (John) and sister (Jackie) kinda just do what I do. My dad (John) makes friends with everyone and I don’t see how that is possible. I am not a people person. We went on a trip to San Jose for one of my brothers hockey tournaments and then we went to San Francisco and that is when I figured out I am not a people person.
We used to go camping a lot because we have a trailer. We have been to the Colorado River. We went to Dixon Lake too which my dad really liked because it is a 2 minute drive to the Escondido Campus.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I kind of wanted to be a doctor but I don’t like all of the bodily fluids so I don’t know what I want to do. Probably something science based.
WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY TREE PROJECT?
Community Lutheran Church is a growing congregation worshiping 550 people between two campuses each week. As we continue grow, it is important that our relationships with one another continue to grow as well. Over the coming months, our church website and Facebook page will be introducing you to a member of Community that you may or may not know yet. You’ll have the opportunity to learn a little about each member and delight in the different personalities and lifestyles that come together each week to worship our Savior.
When you join us for worship on Sunday mornings or events throughout the week, we encourage you to reach out and connect with someone you don’t normally talk to. As Pastor Vogelsang so eloquently reminds us, we are all “dear Christian friends.” We just don’t know each other yet! I’d like to change that one photo at a time.
"So that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it." - 1 Corinthians 12:25-27
