Create-A-Tile

Posted by Sharon Boyer on

The beautiful tile wall surrounding the courtyard in the Preschool/Sunday School building is growing again.  Thirty-eight new tiles were made, and $441 was raised for our preschool! Many parents or grandparents had fun decorating and painting tiles with their children.  Some moms found painting to be very relaxing.

Thanks to Mike Blackmon for mounting the tiles in our courtyard! Children and parents are enjoying finding and showing off their personalized work.

Create-a-tile began in 2007 as both a fundraiser and decorative lasting memento.  New tiles have been added every year since then.  Celeste Weber from “All Fired Up Ceramics” brings blank tiles, paints, and everything needed for decorating.  She gladly shares her expertise with those  who would like some help. The finished art represents a variety of ministries within the church and many individual families, as well as the creative ideas of preschoolers.  Some children have decorated tiles every year and enjoy seeing how their interests have changed.  The funds earned go back into preschool for updates and new equipment.

Please spend a little time admiring these works of art and find tiles that your friends have made.  Plan to add one of your own next spring.  Watch for Create-a-Tile Day.
